Summer means Changes in your Sensitive Skin Care Routine

by Sara Kitch

Sensitive skin is not a skin type in itself, but rather it is a condition that can present itself with oily skin, dry skin and combination skin. You may suffer from mild to severe sensitive skin, and it can affect certain parts of your skin (like sensitive facial skin) or your whole body. People with sensitive skin should look for sensitive skin products that are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic if they want to alleviate the discomfort and irritation that usually accompany this condition.

During the hotter summer months, any skin type can appear dull because of excess sebum. With sensitive skin, this may mean more irritation. To keep it under control, follow a cleansing routine that includes cleansers, toners and moisturizers that are designed specifically for sensitive skin.

Sunscreen is a must during the summer. UV radiation can irritate sensitive skin leading to cracked skin, rashes, and flakiness so no matter what you do, always follow-up sun exposure with a soothing gel.

A great option is the use of natural skin care products. Their mix of natural ingredients can offer soothing benefits for any skin type without producing rashes or irritation. Nevertheless, it is always a good idea to read the labels as even natural ingredients could trigger sensitive skin reactions. Some of the natural ingredients you should look for are: chamomile, lavender, camphor, calamine, aloe vera, azulene and bisabolol.

Some commonly used sensitive skin treatments include masks that incorporate one or more of the previously mentioned ingredients. Make sure that you do not use any products, traditional or homemade, that contain alcohol. This ingredient will dry out your skin and make it more irritable than normal.

Sensitive Skin & Herbal Remedies

In some cases you may want to try using home remedies instead of traditional sensitive skin lotions. I will emphasize again that even natural ingredients can lead to allergic reactions. Make sure to do a patch test before trying out any new product on your whole skin.

Almond or jojoba oil can be used to cleanse your face. These natural oils are a great way of keeping your skin clear and moisturized at the same time. A good toner to consider is comfrey steeped in water.

Grapefruit and oatmeal are a great natural way of exfoliating your skin. The citric acid in the grapefruit will help slough off dead skin cells. Meanwhile, the oatmeal will help soothe your skin.

You can create a soothing skin mask made of natural fruits, however, stay away from fruits that you know you are allergic to. Cucumber and yogurt make a good facial mask for sensitive skin. Another soothing ingredient is licorice. This ingredient is great for sensitive skin and can also be found in certain natural products.

Aloe vera gel is perhaps the most common ingredient in soothing skin care products. You can apply it directly to your skin. Once you've used it, wash it off with a warm, moist wash cloth.

Aging, sensitive skin can be a problem because the skin becomes more delicate as it ages. So that you can deal with both of these issues at the same time, you might want to try using BIOSKINREVITALIZER in conjunction with BIOSKINREJUVENATION. The first product is a natural sensitive skin care product that can safely be used on all skin types. The second product promotesDNA repair and helps treat fine lines, age spots, and wrinkles.
